TROY, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team split a pair of games Sunday, defeating Hartford, 11-1, in the first game and falling to host Troy, 3-1, in the second game at Riddle-Pace Field.

Southeastern took advantage of Hartford pitching's lack of control in the first game. The Hawks walked four and hit a batter in the third as Southeastern scored three runs without a hit. Freshman right-hander Tate Scioneaux (3-0) earned the win, striking out out a career-high nine batters without issuing a walk in seven innings of work. The Lions padded the lead with six runs in the seventh.

Jordan Hymel (1-2) constantly pitched out of trouble to keep Southeastern in the second game, but Troy pitchers retired 23 of the final 24 hitters in order. The Lions threw out two runners at home, picked off another and doubled-up a Trojan at first.

Southeastern (10-5) returns to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field for a 6 p.m. game Tuesday against Tulane (8-9). The contest, the annual Pack the Pat game, will feature fireworks and fans are encouraged to wear gold. There will also be free t-shirts and Raising Cane's for Southeastern students (while it lasts) beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Game One: Southeastern Louisiana 11, Hartford 1
Lion catcher Jameson Fisher knocked a one-out double down the right-field line in the second inning and scored on Sam Roberson's single to right, giving Southeastern an early, 1-0 lead.

Hartford starting pitcher Ryan Carter (0-2) lost his feel for the strike zone in the third. Carter walked Ben Hernandez to lead-off the inning then retired Jesse Buratt on a ground out to shortstop. Harry Slade drew a one-out walk and then Carter hit Aaron Haag with a pitch to load the bases.

After walking Fisher and Roberson to force in a pair of runs, Hartford (0-12) brought in reliever Anthony Mannuccia. The right-hander induced a pair of ground balls to second to end the inning, but Southeastern plated another run in the process.

Harry Slade drove in a sixth-inning run with a double down the left-field line. The Lions finished the scoring with a six-run seventh, needing only three hits. Hartford pitchers walked 10 batters and hit three in the game.

Game Two: Troy 3, Southeastern Louisiana 1
Troy (11-3) pounded out three-consecutive hits to open the first. Tyler Vaughn tripled into the left-field corner and scored on Logan Pierce's single up the middle. After Danny Collins' double, Hymel hit Trae Santos to load the bases.

Trojan designated hitter Kyle Brown hit a fly ball to center field and Pierce tagged up after Corey Bryan hauled in the ball. Haag's relay throw from Bryan beat Pierce to the plate.

Southeastern tied the score in the second as Fisher doubled with one out and scored on another Roberson single. The score stayed tied until the seventh despite several opportunities for Troy to regain the lead.

With runners at first and second in the fourth, Hymel picked Josh McDorman off second base for the second out. In the fifth, Slade doubled Collins off first on fly ball to right while Bryan and Haag teamed up again with Roberson in the sixth to throw another runner out at the plate.

Troy finally ended the deadlock in the seventh with a pair of runs off a combination of four Lion pitchers.
