HAMMOND – The national honors continue to roll in for the Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana football team, as three Lions earned All-America honors on Thursday.
Senior placekicker
Seth Sebastian was selected as the first team placekicker by the Associated Press and was joined on the AP All-America team by sophomore
Xavier Roberson, who was named the second team all-purpose player. Roberson also earned first team All-America honors at kick returner from the Sports Network. Joining Roberson on the Sports Network list was senior linebacker
Cqulin Hubert, who was a third team selection by TSN.
Sebastian, who hails from Lafayette, received his second All-America nod, as he was previously named the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association Placekicker of the Year. The first team All-Southland Conference selection was 16-for-18 on field goals and 66-of-67 on point after touchdowns, setting single season records for PAT's made, PAT's attempted, points (114) and field goal percentage (88.9). The four-year starter finished his career as the school's career leader with 289 career points.
Roberson, an Atlanta native, has now earned All-America honors from four outlets, as he was honored by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the FCS ADA. He led the nation and set new single-season school records with a 35.2 kickoff return average and three kickoff return touchdowns. In just his second season, he has already set a new Southland career record with five kickoff return touchdowns. A first team All-Southland choice at kick returner and all-purpose player, Roberson averaged 113.6 all-purpose yards per game and was second on the team with 10 touchdowns.
Hubert, a Houston product, was named to the Sports Network All-America team after leading a Lion defense that led the Southland Conference in scoring and total defense. The Southland Defensive Player of the Year led the team with 90 tackles to go with 11 tackles for loss and four sacks.
