THIBODAUX, La. – Starting a busy week, the Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team travels to Nicholls State Tuesday for a Southland Conference contest originally scheduled for this past weekend.
Postponed due to safety concerns associated with Tropical Storm Karen, Southeastern (6-11, 0-5 Southland) faces Nicholls (4-12, 1-5 Southland) at 6:30 p.m. in Stopher Gym. The Lady Lions return home for conference matches with later in the week against Houston Baptist and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Lady Lion offense is led by
Tiffany Thomas (3.43 kills per set),
Rachael Bunn (.336 attack percentage) and
Mikayla Shippy (9.42 assists per set). Bunn is second in the Southland in attack percentage while Shippy is sixth in assists.
Landry Bullock (1.02 blocks per set), Bunn (0.84 b/set) and
Morgan Todd (4.21 digs per set) lead one of the best defenses in the Southland. Southeastern is third in the conference in blocks (1.98/set) and fifth in opponent hitting percentage (.181). Bullock is third in blocks while Bunn is ninth. Todd is fifth in digs.
Southeastern, which is looking for its first conference victory of 2013, dropped a three-set decision to McNeese State this past Thursday.
Kayla Burling (3.31 k/set) and Kayla Mashburn (2.80 k/set) are the offensive leaders for the Colonels who have used three different setters this season. Burling also leads Nicholls with 2.33 digs per set.
Picking off New Orleans this past Thursday, the Colonels grabbed their first conference victory and first win in their last seven contests.
Southeastern returns home to face HBU, Oct. 10, for Dig the Lions. The 7 p.m. Southland match up will feature free food, while it lasts, for students as well as T-shirts for the first 300 students in attendance.
