Lady Lions Fall At Lamar

Southeastern wraps up road swing Saturday at Sam Houston State

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team dropped a three-set decision in Southland Conference play Thursday at Lamar, 25-8, 25-20, 25-22.

Lamar's offense controlled the match with a .378 hitting percentage. Courtney Moore (11 kills, .474), Sierra Whitaker (10 kills, .385) and Alexis Johnson (27 assists, seven digs) paced the Cardinal attack.

Erika Rojas led all players with 11 digs and Chelsea Grant (seven kills) aided the defense with seven total blocks. Lamar (7-14, 5-4 Southland) recorded 7.5 team blocks.

Southeastern (7-15, 1-9 Southland), which faces Sam Houston State at 2 p.m. Saturday to wrap up a three-match road swing, was led offensively by Tiffany Thomas (nine kills), Rachael Bunn (eight kills, .500 attack percentage) and Mikayla Shippy (25 assists).

Brooke Balser (seven digs), Morgan Todd (six digs) and Megan McMillin (six digs) anchored the Lady Lion back row.

Sam Houston (11-7, 8-1 Southland) features one of the Southland's top offensive players in Deveney Wells-Gibson (4.36 k/set). Setter Tayler Gray (10.42 a/set) and freshman Breanna Homer (4.20 d/set), a converted outside hitter, also help lead the Bearkats.

Southeastern returns home Oct. 24, opening a six-match homestand, with a conference contest against Abilene Christian.
