Lions Travel To 'The Box' For LSU Contest

Artigues to appear on several Baton Rouge-area radio shows Wednesday

Cody Gougler and the Lions head to Baton Rouge Wednesday to faceoff with the No. 3-ranked LSU Tigers
HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana continues its eight-game road trip Wednesday as the Lions travel to face No. 3-ranked LSU in Baton Rouge, La.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Alex Box Stadium. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and live statistics, courtesy LSU, will be available at www.LionSports.net. Fans can also stay updated through Twitter by following @SLUathletics.

The game will also be televised live by Cox Sports Television.

Southeastern (28-13) took a pair of games from UTSA over the weekend and is tied for second place in the Southland Conference with UT-Arlington, four games behind first-place Sam Houston State.

Brock Hebert (.401), Jonathan Pace (.375) and Cody Gougler (.294) lead the Lions in hitting. Gougler leads the team with three home runs and 34 RBIs. Hebert has stolen a team-best 30 bases and needs just one more to tie the Southeastern single-season record. He is currently third in the nation in stolen bases.

The Lions are hitting .275 as a team and the pitching staff has accumulated a 3.16 ERA. Southeastern pitchers have surrendered on average 7.2 hits per nine innings this season, the fourth-best mark in the nation.

Senior right-hander Josh Janway (2-2, 2.95), a Baton Rouge native, will start on the mound for Southeastern. It will be the second time the Parkview Baptist graduate has started at LSU. He will be opposed by sophomore right-hander Joe Broussard (4-0, 4.15).

LSU (32-9) is hitting .301 as a team and the Tiger pitching staff has compiled a 3.22 team ERA.

Junior outfielder Raph Rhymes leads LSU, and the nation, with a .500 average (70 hits in 140 at bats) and has a team-high 44 RBIs. Junior Mason Katz owns the second-highest average (.350) and RBI totals (31), and leads the team with seven home runs. Tyler Hanover and Ty Ross are each hitting .307 this season.

The Tigers dropped a pair of games at No. 2-ranked Kentucky over the weekend after defeating fellow Southland Conference member Lamar last Wednesday, 5-4.

Jay Artigues Radio Interviews
