JACKSON, Miss. – Southeastern Louisiana struggled to push runners across the plate Tuesday allowing Jackson State to come from behind and defeat the Lions, 3-1.

The Lions jumped on top first with a run in the fifth inning. Jacob Fisher and Ladd Rhodes drew back-to-back walks to open the inning. Fisher was thrown out at third on a sacrifice bunt attempt by Brett Hoffman, who reached on the fielder's choice. Ben Hernandez followed with an infield single to load the bases.

Jackson State catcher Sergio Parra tried to pick Rhodes off third, but the throw hit him in the back and trickled away. Rhodes scored to give Southeastern 1-0 lead.

The Tigers answered in the bottom of the inning with a one-out single from Frank Solis and a two-run home run to left field by Charles Epperson to take back the lead, 2-1.

Jackson State added a run in the seventh as clean-up hitter Desmond Russell singled to left-center and moved to second on a fielding error by Slade. After a Jason Greenleaf balk moved the runner to third with no outs, head coach Jay Artigues was ejected for arguing with the umpires.

With one out and runners on the corners, Jackson State singled to center plating the Tigers' third run of the game.

The Lions stranded multiple runners in each of the fifth through eighth innings.

Southeastern returns home to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game against Alcorn State.

The Braves (1-9) were swept in a three-game series at Oral Roberts this past weekend.

Powell (.342), Gonzales (.281) and Butler (.267) are the leading hitters for an Alcorn State team hitting .217 collectively. The Braves' pitching staff has compiled a 9.33 ERA, allowing double-digit runs in half of the team's 10 games.

The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and live statistics are available at www.LionSports.net.
