Box Score
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana struggled to figure out Texas A&M-Corpus Christi starter Daniel Minor Sunday as the Islanders shut out the Lions, 4-0 in the Southland Conference series finale at Chapman Field.
Minor, fresh off a 14-strikeout, complete-game shutout performance last week against UTSA, worked some of the same magic on Southeastern's bats.
The Lions (15-6, 3-3 Southland) managed just six hits off the right-hander Minor and Southeastern was only able to get more than a single runner aboard twice in the game.
AMCC (10-10, 3-3 Southland) scored the only run it would need in the second inning. Brad Porras doubled with one out, moved to third on a single by Jordan Lee and scored on a sacrifice fly by Islander catcher Santiago Ruiz.
The Islanders added a single run in the third and a pair of runs in the fourth to chase Southeastern starting pitcher
Josh Janway (2-1) from the game.
Kaleb Manuel worked the remaining 4.1 innings without allowing a run. He surrendered just one hit and a pair of walks while striking out two.
Minor (4-1) earned the win with 8.1 innings of shutout ball. He allowed just six hits and one walk while fanning 10. He extended his scoreless innings streak to 19.1 consecutive and lowered his ERA to 0.99 with the effort against the Lions.
Despite the shutout,
Brock Hebert (15 games) and
Jonathan Pace (13 games) each extended their hitting streaks.
Southeastern returns home to face Jackson State Wednesday at 6 p.m. and begin a six-game homestand.
