Lions Face Central Michigan, McNeese State In Doubleheader

Southeastern to play three games in two days

HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana baseball team faces two different opponents Friday as Central Michigan travels to Lake Charles, La., for matchups against the Lions and host McNeese State.

Both games can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and live statistics are available at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern dropped a 12-1 decision Tuesday at Tulane, snapping a season-opening seven-game win streak, in their first road game of the season. The Lions used six different pitchers in the loss.

In the first game, Southeastern (7-1) plays Central Michigan at 3 p.m. at Cowboy Diamond. The Lions will start senior right-hander Joseph Koon (2-0, 1.50) against right-hander Zach Cooper (0-1, 0.69).

Southeastern is led in hitting by Brock Hebert (.500), Harry Slade (.286) and Jacob Fisher (.278). Slade leads the team with 10 RBIs. The Lions are hitting .249 as team and the pitching staff has compiled a 2.79 ERA.

Central Michigan dropped three of four games at No. 23-ranked Stetson this past weekend, including a 14-3 loss in the series finale.

The Chippewas (2-5), in the middle of a 16-game season-opening road trip, are led in hitting by William Arnold (.370), Nate Theunissen (.355) and Jordan Dean (.300). Arnold also leads the team with four home runs and nine RBIs. Central Michigan is hitting .259 as a team.

In the second game, Southeastern will face host McNeese State (2-6) at 7 p.m. The Cowboys lost 19-10 at home Wednesday to No. 13-ranked LSU.

The Cowboys are led in hitting by Collin Todd (.483), Taylor Drake (.409) and Connor Lloyd (.364). Drake leads the team with two home runs while Andrew Guillotte and Nick Eubanks have six RBIs apiece. McNeese State is hitting .284 as team.

Right-hander Trey Brown (0-0, 2.70) will get the start for the Cowboys against junior left-hander Jordan Hymel (1-0, 1.86).

The Lions face Central Michigan Saturday at 2 p.m. to wrap up the weekend.
