Brock Hebert earned an Honorable Mention as Southland Conference Hitter of the Week prior to the game at Tulane
Box Score

HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana jumped on top of Tulane early, but Lion pitching couldn't hold on Tuesday as the Green Wave came rolling back for 12-1 victory.

Tulane (8-1) snapped Southeastern's season-opening win streak at seven and extended its winning streak over the Lions to three games.

Southeastern (7-1) scored in the top of the first as Brock Hebert walked to open the game and stole second base. Ground outs by Ben Hernandez and Harry Slade, respectively, moved Hebert to third and plated him for the early lead.

Lion starting pitcher Buck Bernard tossed two scoreless innings before yielding to reliever Kaleb Manuel.

After a one-out single by Garrett Cannizaro and a double by Jeremy Schaffer, Tulane had runners at second and third. Manuel struck out cleanup hitter Nick Schneeberger and induced a ground ball out of designated hitter Andrew Garner, but first baseman Jonathan Pace couldn't hold onto the throw from third baseman Brett Hoffman. Cannizaro scored to tie the game.

The Green Wave added three more runs in the fourth inning as Manuel allowed back-to-back two-out singles to Brennan Middleton and Brandon Boudreaux. Southeastern head coach Jay Artigues brought in right-hander Sean Kennel to pitch, but Kennel promptly surrendered a three-run home run to Cannizaro and the Lions never regained the lead.

Tulane would add a pair of four spots in the fifth and seventh innings for the final margin of victory.

Southeastern continues a five-game road trip with three games in Lake Charles, La. this coming weekend. The Lions face Central Michigan Friday at 3 p.m. and turn around at 7 p.m. to face host McNeese State in a non-conference game. The Lions will face Central Michigan again at 2 p.m. Saturday.
