Lady Lions Return To Conference Play

Southeastern travels to Nicholls State for Southland contest

Senior Courtney Donald's 3.93 kills per set ranks second in the Southland Conference
THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team returns to Southland Conference action Saturday at Nicholls State.

First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. Links for live stats and a free video stream of the match, courtesy Nicholls State and Thibodaux Online, will be available on the volleyball schedule page at LionSports.net.

Southeastern (5-10, 1-5 Southland) returns to Southland action after dropping a non-conference decision at Jackson State Wednesday.

Courtney Donald continues to lead the way for the second-best hitting team (.193 attack percentage) in the conference. The senior from Tomball, Texas, is second in the Southland in kills (3.93 per set) and third in hitting percentage (.359).

Veronica Turk (2.50 k/set), Tamra Grayson (1.67 k/set) and Shelby Devlin (1.32 k/set) add offensive support under the direction of setter Becky Bekelja (9.00 assists per set).

Libero Megan McMillin, fifth in the Southland with an average of 4.50 digs per set, leads the Lady Lion defensive effort. Bekelja (2.31 d/set), Morgan Todd (2.04 d/set), Cherish Krohn (1.91 d/set), Taylor Buckner (1.56 d/set) and Lindsey Young (1.56 d/set) all see significant time on the back row.

Donald (0.77 blocks per set), Devlin (0.74 b/set) and Zoe Douglas (0.64 b/set) are Southeastern's top blockers.

Nicholls State (7-10, 2-4 Southland) is riding a two-match winning streak after knocking off UNO and Grambling State earlier this week.

Jennifer Brandt (2.86 k/set), Sarah Terry (1.96 k/set) and Jessica Addicks (.253 attack percentage) lead the Colonel offense under the direction of setter Nancy Taylor (6.81 a/set).

Jeanne Logarbo (3.44 d/set) and Brandt (2.65 d/set) anchor the Nicholls State defensive effort. Addicks (0.86 b/set) and Jasmine Harris (0.72 b/set) are the Colonels top blockers.

Southeastern returns home Tuesday to host Grambling State in a 7 p.m. non-conference match. The contest was originally scheduled for Aug. 28, but was postponed because of Hurricane Isaac.
