HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team looks to remain unbeaten at home this season when it resumes Southland Conference action on Saturday against league rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the University Center.

Coming off a 99-59 victory over Champion Baptist on Tuesday, Southeastern (6-8, 0-2 SLC) snapped a five-game losing streak and moved to 6-0 at home on the season. The Lions, who are 96-20 at home since the 2003-04 season, have won their last eight games at home dating back to last season.
In its 40-point victory over CBC, Southeastern set season-highs in points scored, field goals made (43), attempts (70), field goal percentage (.614), 3-point field goal percentage (.538, 7-for-13), rebounds (52) and assists (28).
Roosevelt Johnson came off the bench to score 18 points to lead five players in double figures for the Lions.
Daron Populist added 14 points for the Lions, including four 3-pointers, while
Quin Cooper had 13 points with
Jeremy Campbell and
Elgin Bailey scoring 10 each.
Jan Petrovcic grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds for Southeastern while
DeShawn Patterson dished out a career-best 12 assists and had five steals in the victory.
Johnson leads Southeastern in scoring at 10.6 points per game and is second in rebounds at 7.1. Bailey, who has played in the past seven games with five consecutive starts, is averaging 7.9 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds per contest for the Lions. Populist, the team leader in 3-point field goals (23) and 3-point field goal percentage (.479), is next in scoring at 7.8 points followed in scoring by Patterson (6.0), Campbell (4.9), Cooper (4.2) and
Todd Nelson (4.1).
A&M-Corpus Christi (2-13, 1-2 SLC) snapped an 11-game losing streak on Wednesday as it held off UTSA, 50-49, as the Islanders built a 37-20 halftime lead and got a 3-pointer from Terence Jones with 1:07 left for the winning margin.
The Islanders, in their first season under former Rice head coach Willis Wilson, opened Southland Conference play with a 74-58 loss at home to Lamar before a 71-69 setback to McNeese State last Saturday. A&M-CC's other victory came on Nov. 22 when it defeated Utah State, 58-55.
Jones paces the Islanders in scoring at 12.7 points per game with Chris Hawkins-Mast averaging 12.0. Myron Dempsey, who is third in scoring at 8.8 points, leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per contest while Johnathan Jordan is averaging 6.7 points and 4.0 assists.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi leads the all-time series, 5-1, and has won the last two games – both on its home floor. Southeastern's lone victory came in the previous contest in Hammond, 70-68, as the Lions rallied from a 17-point deficit on Feb. 25, 2009.
