HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University football coach
Ron Roberts announced Thursday the completion of his 2012 coaching staff, including six members of his previous staff at Delta State, along with a pair of holdovers from the 2011 Lion staff.
Roberts announced that
Brandon Lacy (Defensive Line/Recruiting Coordinator) and Tyronee Williams (Cornerbacks/Community Service) would remain on staff with the Lions while former Delta State assistants
Chet Pobolish (Receivers/Special Teams Coordinator), E.K. Franks (Running Backs/Associate Head Coach),
Travis Mikel (Offensive Line/Director of Football Operations) and Jason Wilkes (Tight Ends/Video Coordinator) were joining the staff. Roberts also announced the addition of
Karl Scott (Linebackers), who spent the past two seasons at Tusculum (Tenn.) College.
Roberts announced on Tuesday the appointment of Greg Stevens (Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks) and Pete Golding (Defensive Coordinator/Safeties) after the duo served in the same capacity at DSU.
“I'm very excited about the staff that we have here at Southeastern,” Roberts said. “It's a perfect mesh of what we're looking for. We held over Tyronee and Brandon from the previous staff, who I thought did a great job in recruiting and working in the community. The additions to the staff are going to mesh very well, and it's very important for me that it's the right fit that gets everything clicking in the right direction.
“I think these guys will all fit together and have a great working relationship. I think we've covered our bases on the areas that we're going to have to recruit over the next couple of years to be successful and I think we've added some excellent football coaches … technical people that can do a great job of coaching on the field, a great job of coaching in the classroom and a great job of looking out for these young men in their future.”
Williams, who also serves as Assistant Athletic Director for Community Service, will enter his eighth season on the Southeastern staff. Lacy, a former defensive coordinator at Division II Angelo State, will enter his fourth with the Lions and his first in the role of recruiting coordinator.
Pobolish spent the past five seasons with Roberts at DSU and had stints at William Penn (Iowa) University and Emporia State. Franks spent the past two seasons at DSU and was also an assistant at Wisconsin, Kansas State and Texas State.
Mikel served as offensive line coach at DSU, where he was an All-American for the Statesmen in 2006. Wilkes, a Coastal Carolina graduate, spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at DSU.
