LAKE CHARLES – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team opens the final week of the regular-season on Wednesday when it travels to face Southland Conference rival McNeese State in a 7 p.m. contest at Burton Coliseum.

The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern (13-13, 7-7 SLC) heads into the final week of the season in a four-way tie for sixth place in the league standings with the top eight teams advancing to the 2011 State Farm Southland Conference Basketball Tournament in Katy, Texas. Southeastern is battling Nicholls State, UTSA and UT Arlington for the final two spots for the postseason tournament, which starts March 9th at the Merrell Center.

The game against McNeese State (18-9, 10-4 SLC) marks the final true road game for the Lions, who have split their last four road games and will close out the regular-season on Saturday against Nicholls State in a noon tipoff that will be televised on the Southland Conference Television Network.

Southeastern snapped a three-game losing streak with a 74-63 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday as Brandon Fortenberry scored 16 points to lead five players in double figures. Roosevelt Johnson came off the bench to add 15 points for the Lions while Trent Hutchin had 11 with Deshawn Patterson and David Ndoumba chipping in with 10 each.

Hutchin enters his final week of the regular season leading Southeastern in scoring at 15.5 points per game with Fortenberry (11.6) and Ndoumba (10.8) next. Ndoumba, a Baton Rouge native and former Christian Life Academy product, leads Southeastern and is seventh overall in rebounds per game (7.5) while ranking second in the league in blocked shots (50).

As a team, Southeastern averages 70.5 points per game while allowing 69.8 and is second in the Southland Conference in blocked shots (4.1) and third in the league in free throw shooting (.715), 3-point field goal percentage (.348) and assists (14.5).

McNeese State has won seven of its last 10 games since a narrow 80-77 loss to Southeastern on Jan. 19 in Hammond. The Cowboys trailed by 27 points with 10:01 remaining in the game and 20 with 5:39 left before nearly pulling off the epic comeback.

The Cowboys, who have won 14 straight on their home floor, have secured wins in their last three games since a 65-61 loss at UTSA on Feb. 16, defeating Northwestern State (78-62), UT Arlington (81-72) and Nicholls (71-51).

Patrick Richard leads McNeese State in scoring at 15.8 points per game with Diego Kapelan (15.2) and Stephan Martin (10.4) following. P.J. Alawoya (9.7) is the Cowboys' top rebounder at 9.9 per contest with C.J. Collins leading the team with 3.4 assists.
