SAN MARCOS, Texas – Tony Bishop and Cameron Johnson combined to score 23 of their 38 points in the second half and Texas State shot a blistering 78 percent in the second half to rally past Southeastern Louisiana, 82-69, in a Southland Conference game Wednesday at Strahan Coliseum.

Eddie Rios added 12 points for Texas State (14-13, 9-4 SLC) while Ryan White and John Bowman added 11 each for the Bobcats, who trailed 36-31 at halftime and outscored Southeastern (12-13, 6-7 SLC), 51-33 in the second half.

Southeastern led 50-37 on a pair of free throws by Brandon Fortenberry with 15:15 remaining in the game before Texas State fought back. A 3-pointer by White with 10:36 remaining capped an 18-3 run and gave Texas State a 55-53 lead it would not relinquish.

Bishop, who led all scorers with 22 points, finished 9-for-14 from the floor and grabbed 10 rebounds to post a double-double for the Bobcats. Johnson added 16 points as he finished 7-for-9 from the floor, including 6-for-7 in the second half, and helped Texas State to a scorching 21-for-27 performance (77.8 percent) from the floor in the final 20 minutes.

Texas State jumped out to a 14-6 lead on a bucket by Bishop before Southeastern chipped away at the lead. The Lions used a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the game as Fortenberry converted on a three-point play before Gary Dixon and Trent Hutchin drained 3-pointers that gave the Lions a 15-14 lead with 9:29 remaining in the first half.

Rodney Jones scored on a short jumper that gave Southeastern a 24-23 lead at the 5:02 mark of the first half and the Lions stretched their lead to 31-25 on a steal and layup by Roosevelt Johnson.

Hutchin, who scored a combined nine points in his previous two games, led Southeastern with 18 points while David Ndoumba added 17 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Southeastern will return to action on Saturday when it plays host to Central Arkansas (5-21, 1-12 SLC) in a 3 p.m. contest at the University Center.
