HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball looks to bounce back from its first home loss in over a year on Saturday when it hosts league rival UT Arlington in a Southland Conference game at the University Center.
Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game can be heard on the internet at www.LionSports.net.
The game marks the annual men's basketball reunion with former players, coaches and managers being welcomed back to Hammond. A pre-game reception will take place beginning at 2 p.m. in the St. Tammany Room at the University Center before all returning alums being introduced at halftime.
Southeastern (12-11, 6-5 SLC) returns to action after suffering a rare home loss – a 57-52 setback to Lamar on Wednesday. The loss ended a 13-game homecourt win streak for the Lions and marked their first defeat in the University Center since an 84-79 loss to Sam Houston State on Jan. 16, 2010.
Trent Hutchin leads Southeastern in scoring at 16.1 points per game with
Brandon Fortenberry (11.5) and
David Ndoumba (10.2) next. Ndoumba, who posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds against Lamar, leads the Lions with 7.7 rebounds per game and 46 blocked shots.
Gary Dixon (9.4),
Deshawn Patterson (6.2) and
Roosevelt Johnson (5.6) are next in scoring for Southeastern, which averages 70.6 points while allowing 69.6.
UTA (12-12, 6-5 SLC) rallied from a 15-point deficit and defeated Stephen F. Austin, 66-65, in overtime on Wednesday to snap a two-game losing streak. Bo Ingram came off the bench to score 15 points for the Mavs, which swept the season-series from SFA.
LaMarcus Reed leads UTA in scoring at 12.4 points per game with Ingram averaging 11.3. Bradley Gay (8.1) and Cameron Catlett (8.0) are next in scoring for the Mavs, who average 70.8 points per game while allowing 66.9.
UTA leads the all-time series against Southeastern, 18-4, and are 7-4 in games played in the University Center. The Mavs edged Southeastern, 70-66, in the last game played in Hammond two seasons ago and won last year's game in Arlington, 85-73.
