Southeastern (4-2) remained perfect at home after its overtime victory over Louisiana Tech – the first win for the Lions over their in-state rival since 1966 and the 100th career victory at Southeastern for head coach Jim Yarbrough.

Brandon Fortenberry scored 20 points to lead Southeastern against the Bulldogs while Roosevelt Johnson added 17 points and DeShawn Patterson 11. The Lions forced 18 turnovers in the contest with Jan Petrovcic recording a season-high five steals.

SEMO (3-4), which is 3-0 at home this season, dropped a 79-63 decision at Arkansas State on Tuesday to snap a two-game winning streak. The Redhawks wins have come over Harris-Stowe and Hannibal-Lagrange before posting a 64-57 victory over Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 26.

Tyler Stone leads SEMO in scoring at 12.7 points per game with Leon Powell next at 11.7. Nick Niemczyk (9.1) and Marcus Brister (8.6) are next in scoring for the Redhawks, who average 71.1 points per game while allowing 71.9.

The meeting, the first of four contests between the I-55 rivals in the next four years, is the second in school history with SEMO posting a 63-52 victory over the Lions in the 1954-55 season.

After facing SEMO, Southeastern will take off for final exams before resuming play on Dec. 12 when it entertains in-state rival Southern University in a 7 p.m. contest in the University Center.
