Lions Drop Hard Fought Contest At Ole Miss, 68-59

Southeastern opens SLC play at home on Saturday against SFA

OXFORD, Miss. – Chris Warren scored 15 of his game-high 22 points in the second half and Ole Miss used a 13-0 run late in the second half to pull away and hold off Southeastern Louisiana, 68-59, in a regionally-televised contest Sunday at Tad Smith Coliseum.

Zach Graham added 14 points while Reginald Buckner added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds as Ole Miss (11-3) held off Southeastern (6-6) in a game that featured 12 ties and 20 lead changes.

Southeastern led 46-45 on a basket by Gary Dixon before the Rebels took the lead for good on a Graham basket with 10:11 remaining. Warren, the Rebels' leading scorer at 18.2 points entering the game, added a three-point play and drained a 3-pointer before Terrence Henry capped the decisive run with a jumper for a 58-46 lead with 5:07 left.

A 3-pointer by Trent Hutchin with 3:38 remaining cut the lead to 60-54, but Buckner scored on a three-point play and Southeastern never any closer.

The Lions took a 12-8 lead in the first half on a basket by David Ndoumba and took a 31-27 lead at halftime on a steal and layup by Deshawn Patterson at the buzzer.

Dixon led Southeastern with a season-high 19 points while Hutchin added 16. The Lions finished 21-for-55 from the floor (38.2 percent) and were 6-for-24 from behind the 3-point line.

Henry added 11 rebounds for Ole Miss, which held a 38-30 advantage on the glass. The Rebels, who outscored Southeastern 41-28 in the second half, finished 27-for-56 (48.2 percent) from the floor and were 6-for-16 (37.5 percent) from behind the 3-point line.

Southeastern will open Southland Conference action on Saturday when it hosts Stephen F. Austin in a 3 p.m. contest at the University Center.
