HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team will open its 2010 home schedule on Tuesday, hosting non-conference foe South Alabama at 7 p.m. in the University Center.
The match between the Lady Lions (7-5) and visiting Lady Jaguars (4-6) comes after Southeastern opened the season with 12 consecutive matches away from home.

Southeastern is coming off two victories on Saturday at the Lady Techster Tournament in Ruston. In the opening match of the day, the Lady Lions swept Grambling, 25-15, 25-12, 25-17, behind seven kills by junior
Paige Dollison. Freshman
Cherish Krohn (14 kills) and senior
Allison Jones (13 kills) paced a 25-15, 25-18, 25-10 win over Centenary in the nightcap.
Jones leads the team with 2.47 kills per set, followed by sophomore
Courtney Donald (2.03 kps), Krohn (1.89 kps), sophomore
Taylor Buckner (1.66 kps), Dollison (1.60 kps) and freshman

Arianne Cruckshank leads the team with a .289 hitting percentage and ranks ninth in the Southland Conference with 7.81 assists per set. Cruckshank is joined among the Southland Conference assist leaders by Lady Lion freshman

The Lady Lions currently rank fourth in the Southland with 1.622 service aces per set. The Lady Lions feature three of the league leaders in that category in junior
Chelsea Barr (0.38, 8th), Dollison (0.35, 10th) and Krohn (0.30, 18th).
Defensively, the Lady Lions are second in the league in opposing hitting percentage (.165) and fourth in digs (14.43 digs per set). Barr is eighth in the Southland with 3.50 digs per set, while senior
Alex Greer has a 3.42 dig per set average. Donald leads the team with 25 blocks, while Dollison and Mueller follow with 18 and 14, respectively.
South Alabama started the season 1-5, but has won three of its last four, defeating Southern, Alabama State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Senior Juliana Almeida leads USA with 3.61 digs per set, while junior Samia Salomao (2.58), freshman Jessica Lewis (2.55) and sophomore Olivia Mohler (2.22) have also been productive offensively. Junior Jennica Hagberg is the team's primary setter, averaging 9.52 assists per set.
Salomao and senior Kari Frazier have been the team's top defensive specialists, averaging 3.70 and 3.58 digs per set, respectively. Freshman Torlandria Jones leads the team with 16 blocks.
Southeastern will look to avenge a 25-19, 25-23, 25-12 loss to South Alabama back on Sept. 2 in Mobile, Ala. Jones had 12 kills in the earlier meeting, but Salamao (14 kills) and Almeida (11 kills) led a Jaguar effort that saw USA finish the match with a .286 hitting percentage.
Tuesday's match is the first of two non-conference home matches for Southeastern this week. On Thursday, Southern visits for a 7 p.m. match in the University Center.
