ARLINGTON, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team suffered two shutout losses at the hands of UT Arlington in a Southland Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.
Southeastern fell to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in Southland action. UT Arlington ran its record to 12-8 overall and 3-2 in league play. Sunday's series finale is set for 12 p.m. and live stats will be available at www.utamavs.com.
UT Arlington pitcher Cara Hulme (6-5) led the Mavs to a 9-0 win in the opening game of the day. She held Southeastern to one hit and struck out nine batters and her two-run home run broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning.
Southeastern would only manage three hits in the nightcap, falling 6-0. Rebecca Collom's two-run home run keyed a four-run third inning that blew the game open for UTA. Teri Lyles (6-3) went all the way for the Mavs, striking out three.

UTA broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning. Lyles led off the inning with a single and Hulme followed with her fifth home run of the season to give UTA a 2-0 lead on Southeastern senior

Jordan Logan led off the top of the fourth with a single, but Hulme left her stranded.
Brittany Washington's RBI double keyed a two-run fourth for UTA. In the fifth, Courtney Zink doubled home three runs to give the Lady Mavs a 7-0 lead.
A Southeastern error and an RBI single by Courtney Enocksen allowed the Lady Mavs to enforce the run rule at 9-0.
Game 2 – UT Arlington 6, Southeastern Louisiana 0
Southeastern sophomore
Katelyn Thomason singled in the bottom of the first inning, but Lyles held the Lady Lions off the scoreboard.
UTA scratched out a run in the bottom of the first inning off Lady Lion freshman
Kati Morse (0-2). Lyles led off inning with a single and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Collom.
Morse and junior
Tamra Ladnier had singles in the next two innings, but those two hits were the last hits of the day for the Lady Lions. In the bottom of the third, Collom's home run and a two-run single by Washington put UTA up, 5-0.
Lyles singled home the day's final run in the sixth off Lady Lion freshman
Elise Kittrell. Southeastern managed multiple base runners in the top of the seventh. Freshman
Kelsey Nichols led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second when Thomason reached on an error. However, Lyles retired junior

Chelsea Takacs in order to preserve the shutout.
