Lions, Tulane Ready For Midweek Clash

Southeastern closes out five-game homestand

Ryan Boudreaux will make his fourth start of the season on Tuesday against Tulane
HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team closes out a five-game homestand on Tuesday when it faces in-state rival Tulane at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net. The game is the first of two meetings this season between Southeastern (22-3) and Tulane (17-8) as the schools vie for the Senators' Cup – named for the late Senator John Hainkel, whose district covered both schools.

Southeastern (No. 21 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association; No. 22 Collegiate Baseball; No. 23 USA Today Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches Poll) claimed its third consecutive Southland Conference series taking two of three games from Central Arkansas last weekend.

The Lions, who will visit Lamar in a three-game series beginning Thursday, opened the UCA series with a 9-3 win before rallying for a 5-4 victory on Saturday. Southeastern nearly came back from a five-run deficit in Sunday's finale before dropping an 8-6 decision.

Sophomore Justin Boudreaux leads Southeastern at the plate with a .361 average with six home runs and 30 RBI. Jeff Harkensee (.351-3-20), Cass Hargis (.346-0-22) and Cody Gougler (.333-3-22) are next in hitting for Southeastern, which hits .299 as a team.

Senior right-hander Ryan Boudreaux (2-0, 6.39 ERA) will start on the mound for Southeastern. The former East Ascension product led Southeastern in 2009 in wins (6) and innings pitched (87.2) in his inaugural season in Hammond.

Blake Crohan leads Tulane with a .408 average followed by Brandon Boudreaux (.400-1-16) and Rob Segedin (.381-3-21). Matt Ryan (.363-1-13) and Garrett Cannizaro (.351-0-16) are next in hitting for Tulane, which is hitting .317 as a team.

Gunner Wright (1-1, 3.05 ERA) is slated to start on the mound for Tulane, which posts a 3.85 team ERA.
