Freshman Jordan Hymel pitched six strong innings, fanning nine batters and scattering four hits as No. 21-ranked Southeastern Louisiana pounded out 13 hits and beat Jackson State, 13-1, on Tuesday at Robert Braddy Field.

Josh Cryer went 3-for-4 for Southeastern (19-2) while Justin Boudreaux added two hits and drove in three runs for the Lions.

Hymel (4-0) gave up a run in the first before settling down. The southpaw allowed a leadoff single to Willie Wesley in the third inning before retiring the final 12 batters in order.

Southeastern (No. 21 Collegiate Baseball, No. 25 USA Today/ESPN Coaches', No. 27 NCBWA) scored four runs in the second inning before erupting for eight runs in the third.

The Lions sent 12 men to the plate in breaking open a 4-1 contest. The first seven batters reached safely for Southeastern off JSU starter Cortney Nelson (1-3) with the Lions capitalizing on a pair of errors.

Cryer drove in the first run with an RBI single before Chris Franklin hit an RBI double and Chris Ernest a two-run triple. Philip Freeman added an RBI single that chased Nelson and Boudreaux later added a two-run double that gave Southeastern a 12-1 lead.

Boudreaux, who was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List by the College Baseball Foundation on Tuesday, added an RBI single as Southeastern swept the two-game season series, outscoring JSU (7-9), 31-3.

Southeastern will return to action on Wednesday hosting South Alabama (15-8) in a 6 p.m. contest at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The game will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at www.LionSports.net, where live stats will also be available.
