STARKVILLE, Miss. – After opening with four games at home, the Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team ventures on the road for the first time this season as it begins a three-game series Friday against Mississippi State at Dudy Noble Field.
The series-opener is set for a 4 p.m. first pitch. The teams meet again Saturday at 1 p.m. and close out the series with a 1:30 p.m. game Sunday. Southeastern (4-0) opened the season with a three-game sweep of Eastern Illinois before a 15-1 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday. The Lions have hit .306 as a team with newcomer 
Jeff Harkensee (.533-2-4) pacing the team. 
Cass Hargis (.400-0-5) and 
Justin Boudreaux (.385-0-3) are next offensively for the Lions, who have outscored their opponents, 39-13.
Right-hander 
Tyler Watkins (0-0, 1.35 ERA) will start in Friday's opener for Southeastern with right-handers 
Brandon Efferson (1-0, 3.00) and 
Ryan  Boudreaux (1-0, 0.00) scheduled to take the mound in the final two games of the series.
MSU (4-0) started the season with a three-game sweep of Rhode Island before a 6-5 come-from-behind win over UAB on Tuesday. Junior college transfers Nick Vickerson and Trey Johnson have paced the Bulldogs at the plate with a .500 batting average, while Connor Powers and Luke Adkins have seven hits each. Powers, who delivered the game-winning hit, has a team-best three home runs and eight RBI.
Left-hander Nick Routt (0-0, 9.00) is scheduled to start Friday's opener for the Bulldogs with Chris Stratton (1-0, 0.00) set to pitch Saturday. Sunday's finale is to be announced.
