Lions Host Dillard In Final Home Non-Conference Game

Southeastern to play next seven games on the road before returning to the UC Jan. 8, 2011

Head coach Jim Yarbrough and the Lions are averaging 95.0 points per game in two home games this season
HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team plays its final home game prior to a grueling seven-game roadtrip on Wednesday when it faces Dillard University in a 7 p.m. contest at the University Center.

The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net. Southeastern will hold a canned food drive in conjunction with Wednesday's game. Every fan that brings two canned goods will receive a discounted ticket, while each canned good will be exchanged for a raffle ticket for a drawing for a $50 gift card.

It will also be Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night and all Southeastern faculty and staff will receive free admission by presenting their university ID.

After facing NAIA member Dillard (4-4), Southeastern (3-1) will hit the road beginning with a Saturday contest at Conference USA member UCF at 3 p.m. CST. The Lions will face Southern (Dec. 11), Alabama (Dec. 15) and Vanderbilt (Dec. 18) prior to the Christmas break and will compete in the Southern Miss Hardwood Club Holiday Classic Dec. 29-30. Southeastern will wrap up its longest road trip since the 1988-89 season on Jan. 2 at Ole Miss before opening Southland Conference play on Jan. 8 against visiting Stephen F. Austin.

The Lions turned in an impressive 99-69 win over Loyola in the University Center last Saturday behind a career-high 32 points from Trent Hutchin, who led five players in double figures. Jason Marks added a career-high 16 points for Southeastern while David Ndoumba, Rodney Jones and Roosevelt Johnson each added 10 in the victory.

Hutchin, who is second nationally among Division I players in 3-pointers made per game (4.0), leads Southeastern in scoring at 20.3 points per game. The senior guard has made 59 percent (26-for-44) of his field goal attempts and is shooting 55 percent (16-for-29) from behind the 3-point line.

Gary Dixon is next in scoring for Southeastern, averaging 11.3 points per game followed by Brandon Fortenberry (10.0), Jones (8.8), Johnson (8.8) and Ndoumba (7.0), who also averages a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game.

Southeastern enters the game averaging 80.0 points per game, including a 95.0 point average in its two home games.

Dillard is paced by Terry Church, who averages 20.1 points per contest. Myron McGowan (13.9) and Jermille Fluker (13.7) are next in scoring for the Bleu Devils with McGowan pulling down a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game.

The game will mark the fourth contest between the schools with Southeastern winning the previous three meetings. The Lions posted a 99-59 victory in the last game between the schools on Nov. 29, 2008.
