SFA Sweeps Southeastern

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana freshman Cherish Krohn posted a team-high six kills, but the Lady Lion volleyball team dropped a 25-19, 25-15, 25-18 decision to Southland Conference foe Stephen F. Austin Saturday afternoon at William R. Johnson Coliseum.

Southeastern fell to 10-14 overall and 1-5 in league action with the loss. Stephen F. Austin hit .265 for the match, improving to 9-12 overall and 2-4 in Southland play.

Sophomore Courtney Donald added five kills for the Lady Lions, who finished the match with a .011 hitting percentage. Freshman Lindsey Young led Southeastern with 12 assists, while junior Paige Dollison added to her team-high total with two service aces.

The Lady Lion defensive effort was led by junior Chelsea Barr, who finished with 10 digs. Donald and freshman Rhiannon Cheeks each had two blocks for Southeastern.

SFA was paced offensively by Mary Caitlin Bottles, who recorded a match-high 12 kills. Allison Gideon was efficient setting for the Ladyjacks, recording 32 assists.

The Ladyjacks totaled nine blocks in the match, with Sabrina Burns recording five block assists, while Bottles and Leslie Jackson were credited with three block assists. Madison Hanlan led SFA with 12 digs.

Southeastern will be back in action on Friday, hosting UTSA at 7 p.m. in the University Center. Admission for the Southland Conference match is free.
