HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana volleyball team will return to action on Saturday, when it heads to Nacogdoches, Texas to take on league foe Stephen F. Austin in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
First serve between the Lady Lions (10-12, 1-4 Southland) and the Ladyjacks (8-12, 1-4 Southland) is set for 2 p.m. Live stats for Saturday's match will be available via www.sfajacks.com.
Southeastern is coming off a 25-17, 22-25, 25-22, 25-15 victory on Thursday night over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in non-conference action. Southeastern sophomore
Courtney Donald led the Lady Lions with a career-high 16 kills, while freshmen
Cherish Krohn and
Stephanie Mueller tallied 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Freshman
Lindsey Young contributed 46 assists and 11 digs, while freshman
Megan McMillin posted a match-high 16 digs.
Senior
Allison Jones leads a balanced Lady Lion attack with 2.48 kills per set, followed by Donald (2.04 kps), sophomore
Taylor Buckner (1.94 kps), Krohn (1.88 kps) and Mueller (1.52 kps). Young and junior
Arianne Cruckshank have shared setting duties and have per set assist averages of 7.98 and 7.71 per set. Junior
Paige Dollison leads the Lady Lions with 20 service aces, followed by freshman
Monica Raymond (19) and Buckner (15).
Defensively, senior
Alex Greer leads the team with 3.21 digs per set, while junior
Chelsea Barr is averaging 3.13 digs per set. Donald tops the squad with 47 blocks, followed by Mueller (24) and Dollison (23).
Stephen F. Austin will be looking to snap a six-match losing streak on Saturday. Junior Mary Caitlin Bottles leads SFA with 3.03 kills per set, while freshman Allison Gideon averages 8.72 assists per set. Sophomore Madison Hanlan paces the Ladyjacks with 4.58 digs per set and sophomore Sabrina Burns has totaled 67 blocks.
Following Saturday's match, Southeastern will return home to host UTSA at 7 p.m. next Friday at the University Center.
