Young Lady Lions Drop Four-Set Contest At Northwestern State

Five freshman, sophomore in starting lineup against SLC East rivals

NATCHITOCHES – Freshman Cherish Krohn nearly posted her first career double-double with nine kills and nine digs while Rhiannon Cheeks and Courtney Donald had seven kills each, but it wasn't enough as Southeastern Louisiana dropped a 25-16, 23-25, 25-13, 25-17 decision at Northwestern State in a Southland Conference match Saturday night at Prather Coliseum.

Megan McMillin posted 11 digs to lead Southeastern (9-12, 1-4 Southland) while freshman Lindsey Young had 31 assists. Southeastern, which dropped its third straight match, started five true freshman and a sophomore against Northwestern State (10-7, 2-3 Southland).

Brittany Fruge led Northwestern State with 12 kills while Kourtney Adams posted a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs. Lauren Peltier dished out 39 assists to lead the Demons while Sarah Gillis led all players with 22 digs.

Southeastern will return to action on Thursday when it plays host to Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a 7 p.m. match at the Pennington Recreation Center on the Southeastern campus.
