Three-Point Barrage Lifts Nebraska Past Lions, 77-59

LINCOLN, Neb. –
Ryan Anderson scored eight of his 14 points in a 13-2 first half run as Nebraska pulled away and defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 77-59, in the final non-conference tuneup for both teams Tuesday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Brandon Richardson scored a game-high 15 points as Nebraska (12-3) shot a blistering 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) from behind the 3-point line. Southeastern, which was led by Damon Forest with 12 points, concluded non-conference action at 8-5.

Anderson, the Huskers' leading scorer entering the game, scored six straight points as Nebraska erased a 6-3 deficit and built a 16-8 lead after a jumper by Myles Holley. The Huskers pushed their lead to 22-10 on two free throws by Jorge Brian Diaz before Southeastern closed to within 29-22 on a 3-pointer by Trent Hutchin.

Trailing 39-28 at halftime, the Lions opened the second half with buckets by Forest and Patrick Sullivan. But Nebraska scored the next eight points beginning with a 3-pointer by Sek Henry that gave the Huskers a 42-32 lead.

Hutchin scored 11 points off the bench for Southeastern, which shot 24-for-50 (48 percent) for the contest. The Lions committed a season-high 20 turnovers against a tough Nebraska defense that was allowing 58.1 points per game.

Southeastern will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Lamar in a 3 p.m. game in the University Center.
