Lions Face Nebraska In Final Non-Conference Tuneup

Sullivan closing in on 1,000 points

Patrick Sullivan needs 16 points to reach 1,000 in his career
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team wraps up its non-conference schedule on Tuesday when it visits Big 12 member Nebraska at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern (8-4), which opens Southland Conference action on Saturday at home against Lamar, snapped a two-game losing streak with 74-68 win over William Carey University last Saturday. Damon Forest scored a game-high 24 points to lead Southeastern while Patrick Sullivan notched his 17th career double-double with 22 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.

Sullivan, who leads Southeastern in scoring (15.6) and rebounds (9.2), needs 16 points to become the 16th player in school history to record 1,000 career points. The 6-foot-9 senior, who already is Southeastern's all-time leader in blocked shots, has recorded 642 rebounds in his career and needs two to pass former Lion Jimmy Cress for seventh-place in school history.

Forest, who notched his first start of the season against William Carey, is next in scoring at 11.2 points with newcomer Trent Hutchin next at 10.4. Brandon Fortenberry (9.7) and Gary Dixon (8.2) are next in scoring for the Lions, who average 77.3 points while allowing 64.8.

Nebraska (11-3), which finished 18-13 and advanced to the NIT in 2009, defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday posting a 74-60 victory. The Cornhuskers, who are 9-0 at home this season, have won their last two games since an 88-66 setback against BYU on Dec. 23.

Featuring a team that averages 69.5 points per game, Nebraska is led in scoring by Ryan Anderson at 11.3 points per game. Jorge Brian Diaz (8.7), Sek Henry (7.9) and Lance Jeter (7.6) are next in scoring for the Cornhuskers, who allow 58.1 points per game and have held six opponents under 50 points.

Anderson, who scored 17 points to lead Nebraska against UMES, leads the team in rebounds (4.9) and steals (28) and is third in assists (26).
