HAMMOND – Former Southeastern Louisiana baseball standout Bryan Frichter, a current member of the San Angelo Colts, was named the United League Baseball's Most Valuable Player on Tuesday.
The selection, by ULB field managers and league officials, also included the naming of San Angelo's Doc Edwards as Manager of the Year and Amarillo's Trent Lockwood and Keenan Simon as Rookies of the Year.
Frichter, 24, in his second year with the Colts, hit .387 during the regular season with 12 home runs and 29 stolen bases. The former Lion hit over .400 for much of the season for the Colts, which captured the regular-season title with a 48-32 record. He began his ULB career with the Colts in 2008 where he hit .349 and was the league's Rookie of the Year.
