AUBURN, Ala. – After taking a week off to celebrate the Christmas holiday, the Southeastern Louisiana University basketball team returns to action on Wednesday as it faces SEC member Auburn at Beard-Eaves Coliseum.
Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. The game, which is being televised regionally on Comcast Sports South (CSS), can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net.
Playing the second of four consecutive games on the road, Southeastern (6-5) last played on Dec. 23 when it dropped an 80-71 contest at No. 23-ranked Minnesota. The Lions battled the Golden Gophers in a contest that saw 10 ties and 11 lead changes.
Kevyn Green, the team's leading scorer at 20.2 points per game, scored 22 points to pace Southeastern with
Patrick Sullivan adding 15 points and a game-high nine rebounds. The Lions outrebounded a bigger Minnesota squad, 31-28, and shot 48 percent from the floor.
Sullivan, who leads the team in rebounds and blocked shots, is next in scoring at 12.2 points followed by
Warrell Span (11.7),
Chris Cyprian (8.5) and
Robert Tibbs (7.4). True freshman

Auburn (8-4), which is 7-1 at home this season, has won its last five games, including an 82-40 rout of in-state rival Alabama A&M on Monday. The Tigers built a 46-28 lead at halftime before holding the Bulldogs to a frigid 3-for-23 from the floor in the second half.
Tay Waller scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures as Auburn shot 53 percent for the game and went 9-for-15 from behind the 3-point line in the first half.
Korvotney Barber paces Auburn in scoring (13.1) and rebounds (7.3) with Waller (12.8 ppg.) and DeWayne Reed (11.3) following. Frankie Sullivan (9.2) is the top player off the bench for the Tigers, who average 71.4 points per game while allowing 59.8.
