Lions Host Dillard In Saturday Matinee

Southeastern looks to snap two-game skid

HAMMOND – After playing its last two games on the road, the Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team returns to the University Center as it faces in-state foe Dillard University in a Saturday matinee.

Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net.

Back on its home floor for the first time in 12 days, Southeastern (1-3) looks to snap a two-game losing streak that included games at Lipscomb and Texas Tech. The Lions led at halftime in both games before cold shooting in the second half dropped Southeastern to 0-3 on the road.

Southeastern looks to close out the month of November on a winning note as it faces Dillard (2-3) for the third time on the hardwood dating back to the 2000-01 season. The Lions opened the series with a 77-45 win in the 2000-01 season opener before posting a 95-53 win in the University Center last season.

Led by Kevyn Green, who is averaging 18.8 points per game, Southeastern is scoring 75.6 points per game. Patterson's Warrell Span (13.3), the team leader with 9.0 rebounds per game, is next in scoring for the Lions followed by Patrick Sullivan (9.0), Chris Cyprian (8.5) and freshman Brandon Fortenberry (7.5).

Coming off the bench, Robert Tibbs has averaged 7.3 points for Southeastern, followed by freshman DeShawn Patterson (5.3), Jeremy Dunbar (3.5) and Antonio Pope (2.7).

Dillard, a member of the NAIA Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, is led in scoring by Ricky Manning (14.3) with Michael Bridges (14.2) leading the GCAC with 11.2 rebounds per contest.

After facing the Blue Devils, Southeastern will travel to Baton Rouge on Tuesday to face Southern University in a 7 p.m. contest at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
