Lions Look For First Road Win; Faces Unbeaten Texas Tech

Southeastern, Tech prepare for first game on hardwood

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's basketball team looks for its first win on the road in the 2008-09 campaign when it returns to action on Tuesday at Big 12 member Texas Tech at United Spirit Arena.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net. The game can also be viewed broadband at ESPN360 and on television in the state of Texas on Fox Sports Network Southwest.

Returning to action for the first time since a 70-58 loss at Lipscomb last Thursday, Southeastern (1-2) has dropped both of its games away from the University Center this season, beginning with a 91-87 overtime loss at Arkansas on Nov. 14.

The Lions, who return home to face Dillard University on Saturday, have averaged 80.0 points per game while shooting nearly 40 percent from behind the 3-point line. Kevyn Green, who scored a season-high 26 points at Lipscomb, leads Southeastern in scoring at 22.0 points per game with senior Warrell Span next at 14.0.

Patrick Sullivan (9.3 ppg.), Hammond's Chris Cyprian (8.0 ppg.) and freshman Brandon Fortenberry (5.7 ppg.) are slated to round out the starting lineup for the Lions with Robert Tibbs (8.0), DeShawn Patterson (7.0) and Jeremy Dunbar (4.7) the key players off the bench.

Texas Tech (4-0), under first-year coach Pat Knight, closes out its season-opening five-game homestand that has included wins over St. Francis (Penn.), Sam Houston State, East Central Oklahoma and Eastern Kentucky. The Red Raiders scored 167 points last Thursday, posting the sixth-highest total in NCAA history and scoring 90 points in the second half.

The Red Raiders enter their first-ever meeting with Southeastern on the hardwood averaging 108.2 points per game while allowing 80.5. Alan Voskuil, one of five players averaging in double figures, leads Texas Tech at 15.5 points per game with Nick Okorie (15.0), John Roberson (15.0), Trevor Cook (11.3) and D'walyn Roberts (7.8) rounding out the starting lineup.

Mike Singletary (13.8) is the Red Raiders' top player off the bench with Wally Dunn (7.0) and Michael Prince (6.0) following.
