After six seasons as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech, Gabryel Ording joined the volleyball staff at Southeastern Louisiana in February 2019.
In her first season at Southeastern, Ording helped produce one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation as the Lady Lions scrapped out a 12-win improvement over the 2018 season. Picked to finish dead last in the Southland Conference preseason poll, Southeastern returned to the conference tournament for the first time in three seasons. The overall win total was the most by the Lady Lions since the 2004 season and most conference wins since 2014.
Middle blocker Jodi Edo earned both All-Conference and All-Louisiana honors for her performance during the 2019 season.
As a follow up to the turnaround, SLU enjoyed another stellar product during a delayed 2020 season. The Lady Lions ended Stephen F. Austin’s 42-match winning streak during conference competition and, with the No. 3 seed, brought home the program’s best conference ranking during its Southland tenure.
Freshman outside hitter Kailin Newsome was named both the Southland and Louisiana Freshman of the Year. Middle blocker Crispin Adams joined Newsome in picking up All-Conference honors. Newsome, Adams and Ansley Tullis combined to win five conference player of the week awards.
Following the season, Ording was promoted to associate head coach.
Returning to the Southland Conference Tournament for the third consecutive season in the fall of 2021, SLU was led once again by the conference freshman of the Year. Cicily Hidaldo became the second Lady Lion in as many seasons to earn the honor. She also earned AVCA South Region Freshman of the Year honors. Hidalgo was joined on the All-Conference squad by Karlee Wilkerson.
During her time at Louisiana Tech, Ording helped manufacture a revival of the Lady Techster volleyball program serving as both an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
After joining the program in 2013, she helped Louisiana Tech improve in total wins in five of the next six seasons. In 2015, Ording helped guide Louisiana Tech to more conference wins than in the previous four seasons combined.
Improved success has not just come on the court but in the classroom. Following the 2015 season, five Lady Techsters were named to the Conference USA Commissioners Academic Honor Roll and one, Jacie McClure, was selected to the 2015 Conference USA All-Academic Team.
A four-year letterwinner in volleyball at Louisiana Tech, Ording also served as the program's SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) representative.
Ording earned her bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech in kinesiology in November 2012 and a master's degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Performance in 2015.
