Alyssa Monahan

Alyssa Monahan Dodd

Alyssa Monahan, MS, LAT, ATC joined the Southeastern Louisiana Sports Medicine department in April of 2019 and currently serves as Assistant Athletic Trainer. In her current role, Monahan oversees medical care for the Lady Lion women's soccer program, coordinates student-athlete medical insurance and billing, supervises graduate assistants and serves as a preceptor and lecturer in SLU’s undergraduate athletic training education program.
 
Prior to joining SLU, Monahan served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Rhodes College. During her time at Rhodes, Monahan’s sport responsibilities included Men’s Soccer, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, and Track & Field.
 
Monahan obtained a M.S. Kinesiology/Athletic Training degree from Georgia Southern University in 2018. Monahan worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Eagles, providing care for the Men’s & Women’s Tennis (2016-2017) and Women’s Swimming & Diving (2017-2018) teams. Additionally, Monahan was the Host Athletic Trainer for the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Tennis Championship. She also served as a clinical preceptor, teaching assistant and research mentor for the undergraduate athletic training program. Monahan received her Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Springfield College in 2016.
 
Monahan is a licensed and board certified athletic trainer and holds additional credentials in Dry Needling, KinesioTape, Graston M1, Vestibular Ocular Motor Screening, and QPR Training.
 
Monahan is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Southeastern Athletic Trainer’s Association. Monahan presented her thesis titled “Psychological Readiness to Return to Sport Following Injury” at the 2019 NATA conference in Las Vegas, NV.
