Codi Simmons, MS, LAT, ATC joined the Southeastern Athletics sports medicine staff in September 2019. Simmons primarily works with the SLU men's basketball program.
Simmons came to Hammond with experience at several Division I universities. Her most recent stop was at Alabama State, where she served as an assistant athletic trainer intern. During her time at ASU, Simmons worked with the school's volleyball and softball teams.
Simmons started her athletic training career after completing four years of NCAA basketball at Schreiner University. During her senior year, she provided athletic training support for Schreiner's baseball and softball teams.
After earning her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Schreiner in 2017, Simmons continued her graduate studies at Stephen F. Austin. At SFA, she earned experience working with the track and field, cheerleading, men's basketball and football teams. Simmons earned her master's degree in athletic training from Stephen F. Austin in 2019.
Simmons is a licensed and board certified athletic trainer and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and National Academy of Sports Medicine.
She dedicates her career to her late friend, Chris McCullough, whom’s dream was to become a sports medicine professional.
