Lamont Berzat begins his first season as an assistant coach on the Southeastern Louisiana men's basketball team for the 2024-25 season.
He's coming off of a successful season as a member of the Southwest Mississippi Community College coaching staff where the Bears went 14-2 at home and earned a spot in the Region XXIII Tournament. The season before, he started his coaching career in Colorado at Otero Junior College.
No stranger to the Southland, Berzat was a four-year player at New Orleans where he helped guide the Privateers to a SLC Tournament Championship Game appearance as well as a bid to the College Basketball Invitational (CBI). UNO advanced all the way to the quarterfinals in their CBI appearance with Berzat on the squad.
A native of the Crescent City, Berzat was part of three state championship winning teams at Landry-Walker High School. In his senior season, he helped guide the Charging Buccaneers to state titles in both football and basketball.
