Dean Baumert

Dean Baumert

Baumert is in his third season with the Southeastern men’s basketball staff. In the last two seasons, Baumert has aided with video & basketball operations, scouting, game day operations, practice planning, team social media, graphic design, gear management, community service coordination, and media relations.

Baumert came to SLU following two seasons at Aspire Basketball Academy in Louisville, KY, serving as assistant coach and associate head coach in each respective season. 

In 2017-18, Aspire went 24-11 and finished second in the Grind Session World Championship.  In 2018-19, Aspire would make a quarterfinal appearance in the Grind Session World Championship. While at Aspire, Baumert aided in the development of 15 players that signed NCAA Division-I basketball scholarships; including Charles Bassey who was recently drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Baumert attended Eastern High School (2005-2009). While at Eastern he was part of several teams that experienced high levels of success including a 7th Region tournament title (2009), a quarterfinal appearance in the Kentucky State Championship (2009), two Louisville Invitational Tournament titles (2005, 2009), one 28th district title (2009), and a record of 102-29 over four seasons.

Following high school, Baumert served as a student manager for the men’s basketball program at the University of Louisville for Hall of Famer Rick Pitino. During this time, Louisville made a Final Four appearance and won two Big East championships with a record of 75-33 over three seasons.

Baumert would spend the next six years as an assistant varsity coach and five years as the head JV coach at Eastern High School in Louisville for Coach David Henley.

While coaching at Eastern, and with local powerhouse AAU programs, Baumert aided in the development of several D-I, D-II, and NAIA athletes.

Baumert graduated from Bellarmine University with a B.A. in Sports Administration.

Baumert is the son of Brad and Cindy Baumert and has a sister, Amy.
