Bruce Shingler

Bruce Shingler joined the Southeastern men’s basketball program as the associate head coach in May 2026.

The Prince George’s County, Maryland native resumes his coaching experience after previous stops at Bryant, Maryland, South Carolina, Towson, Morgan State and Kansas State. Shingler spent five seasons at South Carolina as a member of Frank Martin's staff, helping the Gamecocks reach the Final Four in 2017.

Prior to his time at South Carolina, Shingler spent four years at Towson, helping the Tigers set the NCAA Division I record for largest single-season turnaround, going from one win in the 2011-12 season to 18 wins in 2012-13. The Tigers went on to claim 25 wins in 2013-14 and returned with 20 wins to close out the 2015-16 season.

“He’s a winner, he’s respected across the basketball world, and I truly believe he makes our entire program better immediately,” commented Kiefer.

Shingler gained deep roots in the profoundly talented recruiting ground of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area after a one-year stint at his alma mater, Bladensburg High School. Shingler guided the team to an 18-5 record. He also coached AAU for the DC Assault 17U team, sending over 40 members to Division I institutions in his tenure, including McDonald's All-Americans Michael Beasley, Wally Judge and Quinn Cook.

“I’m excited not only because of what Bruce brings professionally, but because I know the kind of person our players, staff and community are getting,” said Kiefer. “He’s going to have a major impact on Southeastern Basketball from player development to office management and overall culture.”
