Kevin Weston

Kevin Weston is in his third season with the Southeastern Louisiana football coaching staff. Weston works with the team's safeties.
Weston’s first season working with the Lion safeties saw a pair of junior newcomers make an immediate impact. Junior Javon Tillman, who received a medical redshirt in 2015, led the team with 89 tackles and three forced fumbles on the way to earning second team All-Southland Conference and All-Louisiana honors. Junior Max Lyons joined Tillman on the All-Southland team after ranking third in the nation with three fumble recoveries.

In his first season with the Lions, Weston worked with the team’s running backs. Freshman Julius Maracalin (590 yards, 3 TD), senior Kody Sutton (485 yards, 3 TD) and senior Xavier Roberson (258 yards, 3 TD) all thrived under Weston’s tutelage.

Weston, a native of Queens, New York, comes to Hammond after spending the past two seasons as the head coach at Clark Atlanta. During his time with the Panthers, Weston mentored 2014 Division II All-American linebacker Bre’nard Williams.

Weston moved to Clark Atlanta after spending eight seasons on the coaching staff at Tusculum University, where he worked with the defensive line and linebackers, while also spending two seasons as the defensive coordinator. In 2011, he oversaw a defense that finished second in the country in pass defense.

During his time at Tusculum, he was the assistant head coach for the 2008 squad that advanced to the Division II playoffs for the first time in school history. During his playing days at Tusculum, he played tight end and offensive guard for a Tusculum team that had Roberts as the defensive coordinator. He would go on to sign as a free agent running back in the Arena Football League.

Weston opened his coaching career as an assistant coach at Morgan County High School in Madison, Georgia. During his two seasons there, the Bulldogs were 19-5 and made two state playoff appearances.

A 2002 graduate of Tusculum, Weston has a bachelor’s degree in education and earned his master’s degree from Troy in 2005. Weston is married to the former Bonnie Taylor of Akron, Ohio.
