Veteran college baseball coach Brock Van Faussien joins the Southeastern Louisiana baseball staff for the 2015 season after spending the last few years as a private instructor in the Atlanta, Georgia, area.
He will instruct infielders, assist with hitting instruction and administrative duties, as well as serve as camp coordinator and be responsible for field maintenance at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
Over the course of the past three years Van Faussien has worked with countless individuals on the finer points of the game, including Major Leaguers Colby Rasmus (Houston Astros) and Anthony Gose (Detroit Tigers).
Van Faussien has an award-winning background in turf management, having spent time as the head groundskeeper for the Single-A Columbus Catfish (Los Angeles Dodgers).
A member of the coaching staff at Liberty from 2001-02, Van Faussien helped the Flames to a pair of 30-plus win seasons and appearances in the Big South Conference Tournament. During his time on the staff he coached All-Conference players Trey Miller, Marcus Maringola, Larry Wayne York, Matt Hagen and Joey Monahan.
Van Faussien spent three seasons working in collegiate summer leagues, serving on the staffs of the Edenton Steamers (1998) and Durham Americans (2002) of the Coastal Plains League, and the Orleans Cardinals (2001) in the prestigious Cape Cod League. Current Los Angeles Dodger catcher A.J. Ellis was a member of that Durham Americans squad.
He served as a graduate assistant coach at Clemson from 1998-2000 helping the Tigers to an NCAA Regional appearance in 1998, a Super Regional appearance at Texas A&M in 1999 and trip to the 2000 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. During his time at Clemson Van Faussien worked with future Major Leaguer Khalil Greene, the 2002 Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award winner.
A student assistant during his undergrad days at Liberty, Van Faussien was part of the crew that earned the STMA / sportsTURF / Beam Clay 1997 College Baseball Diamond of the Year for the Flames' Al Worthington Stadium.
Van Faussien earned his bachelor's degree in sport management at Liberty (1997). He resides in Hammond, Louisiana.
