Barrett Morgan enters his first season on the baseball staff as the Lions' first-base coach. He will also instruct the catchers, assist with pitching instruction and administrative duties, as well as serve as camp coordinator and be responsible for field maintenance at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
Morgan comes to Southeastern after spending the last three years as an assistant baseball and football coach at Riverside Academy in Reserve, La. He also served as an assistant baseball coach during the 2010 season at New Orleans' Isidore Newman H.S.
A product of Hammond's St. Thomas Aquinas H.S., Morgan was a three-time American Southwest Conference All-Academic selection (2007-09) at Louisiana College. As a junior, he earned the team's Most Valuable Pitcher award and was an All-Conference selection in addition to being named the American Southwest Conference Relief Pitcher of the Year.
Morgan received a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Louisiana College (2008). He and wife Shazy reside in Ponchatoula with their daughter Heartlie Ann (3).
