2007: Emerged as the leader of the Southeastern defense, starting all 19 matches she appeared in… Helped the Lady Lions give up the fewest goals in the Southland Conference for the second straight year…Earned honorable mention All-Southland Conference honors for her efforts…Credited with two assists on the season…Assists came versus Louisiana Tech and Stephen F. Austin…Was also a strong performer off the field, earning Southland Conference All-Academic accolades.

2006: Returned from injury to be one of the top defenders in the SLC…Started all 19 matches in the backfield for the Lady Lions…Part of a Southeastern defense that allowed only 13 goals all season and finished with an SLC record 13 shutouts…Credited with an assist in win over Alcorn State.

2005: Redshirt season.

High School: Two-time All-League defender at Ponderosa High School under head coach Henry Reis…Led her team to the Division 2 championship and the division finals in her senior year…Also played on the San Juan Spirits club team…At Ponderosa, played point guard on the school’s basketball team…Captained the soccer team as a senior.

Personal: Born Shalayne Nicole Heffner in Sacramento, Calif…Parents are Vernon and Shelley Heffner…Has an older sister, Elise, and a younger brother, Jared…Enjoys scrapbooking and jet skiing…A digital design major.
