2017 (Junior): All-Conference, All-Louisiana and Southland All-Academic performer … started all 59 games … hit .312 with 14 doubles, one triple and four home runs … scored 55 runs and drove in 32 … ranked ninth nationally with 29 bases (33 attempts) … drew 44 walks, 11 HBP and struck out 56 times … recorded a .442 slugging percentage and a .440 on-base percentage … hit .500 (5-for-10) with the bases loaded … produced 18 multi-hit games, including a 4-hit performance against Seton Hall in the regular-season finale … drove in multiple runs on five occasions … reached base in team-high 29-consecutive games … led team in walks, HBP and stolen bases … second in batting average, on-base percentage, runs scored and doubles … pitched 17 innings in relief (11 appearances) … recorded a 1-2 record to go along with a 5.29 ERA … struck out 16 and walked eight batters … opponents hit .286 off the left-hander (18 hits) … earned win with a pair of shutout innings against West Virginia … worked three shutout innings at No. 17-ranked Vanderbilt … named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

2016 (Sophomore): Dual-threat athlete took over as starter in left field during season’s second half … hit .274 with six doubles, two triples and three home runs … scored 20 runs and drove in another 19 … one of six players with double-digit stolen bases (11) … ranked second on the team with five sac flies … on-base percentage (.379) ranked fifth … produced nine multi-hit games, including a 4-hit performance in the Lions’ 7-6 comeback win at No. 27-ranked Tulane … drove in multiple runs in four games … 11-game hitting streak tied for the team’s longest of the season (April 29-May 19) … reached base in 17-consecutive games (April 16-May 19) … hit .400 (12-for-30) when leading off an inning … pitched in 14 games, all in relief … compiled a 1-2 record and three saves to go with a 2.00 ERA … held opponents to a .188 batting average, walking eight and fanning 23 in 18 innings of work … only allowed runs in three of his 14 appearances … worked four scoreless innings against future Regional participant South Alabama to earn the win (March 15) … honorable mention All-Louisiana … named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

2015 (Freshman): Dual threat hit .200 (2-for-10) in limited plate appearances … picked up first hit of career at Utah (4/11) … scored runs against Louisiana Tech (2/13) and Tulane (4/28) … drove in a run at Jackson State (2/17) … stole one base … appeared in nine games on the mound … compiled a 3.46 ERA in 13 innings of work (five earned runs) … walked just three and struck out 15 batters … made collegiate pitching debut with a 2-inning stint at UT Arlington (2/20) … finished the season with 5-consecutive scoreless outings spanning 6.1 innings of work.

High School: Earned three varsity letters in baseball and one in cross country at Thompson High School … baseball team captain as a junior … two-time All-State, All-County, and All-Metro selection as a senior in baseball … hit .319 in 144 at-bats as a junior with 46 hits, 11 doubles and 23 RBIs ... scored 47 runs, had 25 walks, 19 strikeouts and stole 23 bases … tossed 32.2 innings … compiled a 2-3 record with three saves and a 1.93 ERA … member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Born in Alabaster, Alabama … son of Denis and Trisha Avans … has two younger siblings, Cole and Brooke … enjoys working out and playing video games … majoring in general studies.
