HAMMOND, La. – After capturing its first win of the season last week, the Southeastern Louisiana University Volleyball team will end the Lions' season-opening six-game road swing against Southern at H.W. Moody Intramural Sports Complex in Baton Rouge, La., Tuesday, at 6 p.m.
SLU (1-4) took part in the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic last week, taking on Memphis and tournament host UL Lafayette. After a hard-fought loss to the Ragin' Cajuns Thursday, the Lions secured the first win of 2026 in a four-set contest against Memphis in SLU's best performance of the season.

Kyra McKelvey ended the week with 30 kills, 15 digs, and eight blocks. The Navarre, Fla. native has totaled 71 kills through the team's first five contests. Her 3.55 kills per set rank at the top of the Southland Conference. McKelvey has averaged 3.95 points per set to place second in the SLC.
Ashley Richardson also put together a strong week, totaling 72 assists and 18 digs in the matches against UL Lafayette and Memphis. Richardson captured her third consecutive double-double of the season against the Ragin' Cajuns (27 assists, 13 digs), and posted a career-high 45 digs in the win over the Tigers.
Keira Beverly notched a career-high 16 kills against Memphis, ending the match with a .484 attack percentage. Beverly also ranks seventh in the Southland with 16 total blocks.
Southern did not compete last week, but before that, the Jaguars participated in the Gamecock Classic, hosted by Jacksonville State. Southern did not end its first week of competition with a win, falling to Jacksonville, Southern Miss, and Jax State. Sereniti Johnson led the Jaguars in the team's four-set loss to Jacksonville State, recording kills in double figures. Penina Vito notched a match-high 31 assists. Najah Harris' 16 digs against the Gamecocks were also a match-high mark.
After wrapping up its road slate Tuesday, the Lions will return home for the Southeastern Showdown in Hammond, La. At the University Center, SLU will host a double-header Friday, facing off with Texas Southern (0-6) and Charlotte (2-4) at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. Southeastern will end its home tournament by hosting LSU (2-2) Sunday at 2 p.m. All of SLU's matches this upcoming weekend will be televised on ESPN+.
