HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will travel to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track & Field Stadium.
Southeastern (5-5-1, 1-2 SLC) will visit Corpus Christi, Texas to face the Islanders (3-5-3, 0-2-1 SLC) in its first Southland Conference road stretch of the 2026 season. SLU's match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will be televised on ESPN+ and live stats, provided by the host, can be accessed on the women's soccer schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
The Lions will seek to regain its opening conference momentum after dropping their last two matches in league action. Southeastern suffered a tough 2-1 loss against UIW at home to close out week two as the green and gold battled to equalize the match, but could not connect down the stretch. Sophomore Alexandra Knight netted her seventh goal of the year to keep SLU within the fight in the second half.
Knight leads the Lions in the net this season and currently ranks third in the SLC in goals per game (0.60) along with tying for fourth in goals. Junior Charlotte Lewis also ranks fourth in the league in shots (32) and shots per game (2.91) while senior goalkeeper Kendall Curran ties for third in shutouts combined (0.09) and fifth in saves (37).
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will look to gain its first conference win of the season after falling 2-0 against McNeese at home last week. The Islanders suffered their second shutout of the season against the Cowgirls after their 1-1 draw versus UTRGV. Senior Katie Porter leads Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this season with six goals and two assists followed by Myjol Anderson with two goals.
The Islanders have recorded 15 goals, 14 assists and 93 shots on goal so far this season. Jessie Spurell has handled the majority of the responsibility in the net for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi alongside Addie Brown, the two keepers have combined for 37 saves and 1.36 goals against average. The Islanders currently tie for 10th in the league alongside UTRGV entering week three of conference play.
Following Thursday's match, SLU will continue on the road traveling to Houston, Texas to face Houston Christian Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. The Lions match against the Huskies will be streamed on ESPN+.
