HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University Volleyball team will begin its second week of competition by taking part in the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic, hosted by UL Lafayette at Earl K. Long Gym in Lafayette, La., Thursday and Friday.
SLU (0-3) opened the 2026 season in Oxford, Miss., last week, facing tough competition in Ole Miss, Loyola Marymount, and Northern Arizona. The Lions competed well through the team's first three matches, taking the Rebels to five sets in Friday's opening match.
SLU will make its way to Lafayette to take on the Ragin' Cajuns (0-2) Thursday at 6 p.m., then end its tournament against Memphis (0-3) Friday at 2 p.m. For the upcoming week, live stats will be available on the volleyball schedule page at

Kyra McKelvey has been a highlight through the Lions' opening weekend, totaling 41 kills, tied for second among all student-athletes in the Southland Conference. The reigning SLC Player of the Year was also named to the Ole Miss Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Ashley Richardson put together a solid weekend for SLU, earning two double-doubles and tallying 62 assists and 24 digs in nine sets. Sophomore
Gracie Brown also totaled a career-high eight blocks against NAU.
The Ragin' Cajuns faced off against Oklahoma and Texas State to begin their season, falling in straight sets. Lolo Lambert led UL Lafayette on the offensive end against the Bobcats, notching double-digit kills and a team-high seven digs. Nene Hawkins (20) and Ryleigh Garis (11) each tallied assists in double figures in the match against Texas State.
Like SLU, Memphis also began its season with a three-match slate. The Tigers played against Lipscomb, Vanderbilt, and College of Charleston last weekend. Through Memphis' trio of games, Caitlyn Little has been dominant with 49 kills and 32 digs in total. Abigail Schlueter was named an American Athletic Conference Weekly Honorable Mention after the senior libero averaged 4.25 digs per set.
After leaving Lafayette, the Lions will take on Southern Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. Live stats for the match will be available on the schedule page.
