SLU Hosts Troy and Spring Hill College in Week Two

Southeastern opens two-match home stand against Troy Thursday at 7 p.m. and Spring Hill College Sunday at 1 p.m.

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team will host Troy and Spring Hill College for a two-match home stretch in week two of the 2026 season at Strawberry Stadium.

SLU (1-1) opens week two against Troy (0-1) Thursday evening at 7 p.m. before Spring Hill College travels to Hammond, America Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be televised on ESPN+ and live stats can be accessed on the women's soccer schedule page at  www.LionSports.net.

Southeastern secured its first win of the 2026 season on the road with a commanding 5-1 victory over Louisiana Tech Sunday. The Lions gained the early lead to take control of the match and solidified the road win with three goals posted in the second half. The green and gold remained aggressive offensively as its defense also battled to limit opportunities for the Bulldogs.

Sophomore Alexandra Knight fueled SLU with a stellar performance of three goals, the first Lion since 2018 to be credited with a hat trick. Knight earned Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week after the opening week, the first of her career. Junior Charlotte Lewis alongside senior Ella Quinlan also posted their first goals of the season to aid in the win over Louisiana Tech.

Troy fell 2-0 on the road against Middle Tennessee in its season opener last week. In the match against the Blue Raiders, Troy ended with four shots and one shot on goal. The Trojans suffered their first shutout of the season as they will seek to bounce back on the road. Troy finished 5-9-3 overall last season.

Spring Hill College will look to open its 2026 season on the road against the Lions. The Badgers closed out the 2025 season 7-4-7 overall and 5-3-4 in conference. Spring Hill returns its leading scorer Sofia Jimenez Garcia with four goals last season alongside Felicia Ajayi with one goal.

Concluding Sunday's match, SLU will embark on a four-match road stretch beginning with Southern Miss Thursday, Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. in Hattiesburg, Miss. Thursday's match against the Golden Eagles will be televised on ESPN+.
