HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team faces Lamar in a first-place showdown at Vincent-Beck Stadium in Beaumont, Texas this weekend and the weather is already proving to be a factor in the series.
 
Friday's forecast has forced a change to the series schedule. Southeastern (28-18, 16-8 SLC) and Lamar (24-21, 16-8 SLC) will now play a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday on ESPN+. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. on both days.
 
The teams enter the weekend tied atop the Southland standings with six regular-season contests left before the conference tournament commences, May 14, with bracket play at the site of the top two seeds.

SLU has won four of its last five games despite dropping Tuesday's game at LSU.
 
Peyton Woods (.341-5-18), Justin Williams (.319-10-37) and Ben Robichaux (.298-10-36) are the Lions' leading hitters.
 
Despite winning its previous conference series at New Orleans, two games to one, Lamar has dropped three of its last five games overall.
 
Tab Tracy (.343-1-26), A.J. Taylor (.305-5-22) and Kevin Duran (.290-3-25) are the Cardinals' leading hitters.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern returns home to wrap up the regular season, May 7-9, hosting Nicholls in a three-game conference series. The Colonels (24-20, 14-10 SLC) enter the final two weeks of the regular season 2.0 games behind both SLU and Lamar.
 
Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
 
Friday's game is Senior Night. Fans are encouraged to show up early as the Lions will honor this year's senior class before the first pitch. Also, kids ages 12 and under will be able to stand alongside their favorite Lion during the National Anthem on Friday Funday.
 
Saturday fans can celebrate Mother's Day early as we honor the moms who cheer the loudest and offer support every step of the way. The game will feature Baseball Bingo at the Ballpark. Fans can grab a bingo card from the marketing and promotions table in the concourse and play along. The first 25 valid bingos win a prize from Southeastern Athletics. It promises to be a special day filled with baseball, family, and memories worth cheering for as the Lions wrap up the regular season against the Colonels.
