HAMMOND, La. – The defending Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team steps back into conference action this weekend with a three-game series against McNeese at Joe Miller Ballpark in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
 
Games against the Cowboys (10-10, 4-5 SLC) are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday, with all three games slated for coverage on ESPN+.

Luke Barbier (0-1, 3.18) steps into the Friday night starter's role for SLU. He will oppose Cowboy senior left-hander Cooper Golden (1-2, 6.00).
 
Lakin Polk (2-1, 4.62), a senior right-hander from Ponchatoula, Louisiana, draws the starting assignment for Saturday's contest opposite McNeese senior right-hander Eric Nachtsheim (3-1, 1.91).
 
Blake Lobell (0-0, 3.96) is slated to start the series finale for SLU. The senior right-hander from Springfield, Louisiana earned All-Conference honors last season. He matches up against Cowboy freshman left-hander Jairus Miller (2-0, 4.97).
 
Peyton Woods (.326, 6 RBI), Ben Robichaux (.320, 4 HR, 17 RBI), Connor Cuff (.299, 3 HR, 14 RBI) and Justin Williams (.284, 1 HR, 15 RBI) are the Lions' leading hitters.
 
Danny Barbero (.400, 4 HR, 24 RBI), Matt Stancliff (.343, 3 HR, 16 RBI), Bryce Fontenot (.310, 1 HR, 9 RBI) and Hayden Stringfellow (.307, 13 RBI) pace McNeese at the plate.
 
Southeastern is coming off a shutout victory over No. 8-ranked Oklahoma, 3-0, Tuesday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The Cowboys run-ruled Prairie View A&M, 16-1, in seven innings Wednesday at Joe Miller Ballpark.
 
UP NEXT
Following the McNeese series, the Lions travel to No. 25-ranked UL Lafayette for a non-conference contest Tuesday at 6 p.m. at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park in Lafayette, Louisiana.
