Reigning SLC Champ SLU Hosts SFA in First-Place Southland Showdown

HAMMOND, La. – The defending Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team returns to conference play this weekend, hosting Stephen F. Austin in a three-game series at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
 
Tied atop the conference standings, games between Southeastern (9-8, 2-1 SLC) and the Lumberjacks (11-7, 4-2 SLC) are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. All three games are slated for coverage on ESPN+.
 
Friday's game is designated as Youth Sports Night. Kids age 12 and under will also be allowed to stand on the field during the series opener with their favorite Lion player for the national anthem as part of the Friday Funday promotion. Fans will be able to play baseball bingo during Saturday's contest, with the first 25 winners claiming a prize. Sunday is Military Appreciation Day. One complimentary ticket will be given out per valid military ID.

Giovanni Licciardi (.339, 1 HR, 7 RBI), Ben Robichaux (.339, 3 HR, 15 RBI), Mo Little (.303, 3 RBI) and Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week Connor Cuff (.295, 3 HR, 12 RBI) pace Southeastern at the plate.
 
Southeastern had its five-game winning streak snapped Wednesday, 10-3, at South Alabama. The Lumberjacks are coming off a 14-1, run-rule loss in seven innings at No. 22-ranked Texas A&M this past Tuesday.
 
Julian Swift (.389, 2 HR, 18 RBI), Jhett Creel (.379, 1 HR, 13 RBI), Ethan Pena (.368, 2 HR, 19 RBI) and Juan Cantua (.349, 1 HR, 9 RBI) are SFA's leading hitters.
